  • Secluded cove
  • Clear, calm water
  • Good swimming stop
  • Reachable only by boat

Englishman Bay is a small, secluded cove on the Karaburun Peninsula, tucked into the cliffs and open only to the sea. It is a calm, clear-water swimming stop on the long coastal route, the kind of place that stays empty because there is no way in except by boat.

What you will see

The bay is sheltered and quiet, with clean water over a pale seabed that lights up in the sun. Boats stop here to swim and snorkel in the calm, away from the busier coves nearer the city. Englishman Bay is the local name for the cove; ask your guide for the story they tell about how it got the name.

How to get there

The cove sits on the outer Karaburun coast inside the marine park, far from any road. We visit it on the full-day Grama Bay and Blue Cave trip, as one of the swimming stops along the way.

Best time to visit

June to September, calmest in the morning, with summer water temperatures around 23 to 26 degrees Celsius. The exposed coast means the captain chooses stops based on the day’s wind and swell.

What to bring

Swimwear, towel, sunscreen and water shoes. Snorkeling gear, life jackets and water are on board. There are no facilities at the cove, so it is a self-contained swim stop.
